Delete your account

You can delete your Owlsplit account whenever you want, from the app or by asking us.

From the app

1. Open Owlsplit and go to Profile.
2. Tap Delete account and confirm.
3. If your account is linked to Google, the app will ask you to sign in with Google again before deleting it.

It needs an internet connection to finish. If it gets interrupted, tap it again: it picks up where it left off.

Without the app

If you no longer have the app, open an issue on GitHub titled “Delete my Owlsplit account”. Do not include any personal data in it, because it is public: we will reply there to confirm the account is yours without exposing it. We will delete it within 30 days of that confirmation.

What gets deleted

• Deleted: your account (and its link to Google), your profile (name, avatar, currency and payment details) and the app's data on your phone.
• Stays in the groups: the expenses and payments you shared, under your member's name, which becomes a member without an account. They are part of everyone else's balances, and without them their balances would no longer add up.
• Error reports: they are not tied to your name and are deleted automatically after 90 days.
